A conversation with Yascha Mounk, a professor of the practice of international affairs at Johns Hopkins University, about his new book, “The Identity Trap: A Story of Ideas and Power in Our Time” (Penguin Random House). The Identity Trap covers the push for social justice and newfound cultural identity in the West from a new and exciting perspective. Mounk is an academic covering the rise of populism and the crisis of liberal democracy. He received his BA in history from Trinity College Cambridge, and his PhD in government from Harvard University.
